OUR PASTOR
Reverend Warren Woods, Jr. is the proud Pastor of the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL.
Rev. Woods received a B.A. in Psychology from Chicago State University in 1998. He began his preaching ministry in 1997 at the age of 20 years old. After serving faithfully for 7 years at his “home church”, Christian Youth M.B. Church in Chicago, he was led of God in August of 2004 to organize the New Start Missionary Baptist Church. New Start began with only sixteen members, but grew to over one hundred members, and several ministries were established and developed under Rev. Woods’ guidance.
In November 2015, Rev. Woods was called to serve as Pastor of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. Many churches would have split under similar circumstances, but God divinely ordained a marriage of ministries under the leadership of Pastor Woods, for the majority of the members of New Start joined him in his move to Progressive.
As a result, Progressive experienced an immediate and significant boost in membership.
Since Rev. Woods’ installation, the church has seen a steady increase in membership, the addition of mentoring programs for youth, and a huge increase in Bible Class and Sunday School attendance. This can be attributed to the fact that Pastor Woods has been blessed with the God-given ability to preach powerfully, yet practically, ministering to people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life simultaneously.
